Kee Guard Collective Edge Protection

APS Safety Systems worked with a local Scottish Council to provide a safe and effective collective rooftop edge protection solution at a property in the West Central Lowlands.

The problem

Due to the lack of rooftop edge protection, the Council had identified a potential fall risk to workers who might need to access one of their properties roofs in Renfrewshire, and so approached APS Safety Systems looking for the best solution to protect workers, without the need for specialist training and equipment.

The solution

Following a site meeting, as well as a face-to-face customer consultation, we identified free-standing Kee Guard guardrail as the perfect collective edge protection solution.

A collective protection solution, Kee Guard is a fantastic, non-penetrative rooftop edge protection system designed to protect everyone, no matter their level of training. Its modular design also allows for incredible flexibility, meaning we were able to design a system bespoke to the client’s needs.

Best of all, Kee Guard consists of hard-wearing, durable hot dip galvanised steel, guaranteeing long-lasting protection even in the mercurial Scottish climate.

Alongside the Kee Guard system, we also recommended several self-closing Kee Gates to protect against potential falls through open access voids, and two, fixed aluminium access ladders.

The result

The building now has a rooftop edge protection system that is fully-compliant BS EN 13700:2021, allowing for safe access to the entire roof area for all workers, with no need for specialist training, equipment, or additional rescue procedures.

Our Council client was very happy with the result, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.
